EMDR in Keller, Texas
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) in
Keller, TX with Katie McCoy, LCSW-Supervisor
For trauma, anxiety, and patterns that still feel stuck
You may understand why you react the way you do… but still feel like your emotions, body, and relationships keep getting pulled back into the same painful patterns.
I’m Katie McCoy, and I offer Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy for adults who feel stuck in the effects of trauma, anxiety, childhood wounds, attachment pain, or overwhelming life experiences that still feel too present. If talking about it has helped you understand things but has not fully helped you shift them, EMDR may be the next step.

You do not have to keep carrying this the way you have been
EMDR may be a good fit if you:
-
feel triggered more easily than you want to
-
overthink everything and still cannot calm down
-
keep repeating the same painful relationship patterns
-
feel anxious, on edge, or emotionally flooded
-
have memories that still feel raw or hard to shake
-
understand your past logically, but still feel stuck in it
-
are tired of coping and want deeper healing
You are not broken.
Sometimes your nervous system is still responding like the pain is happening now, even when part of you knows it is over.
Why work with Katie McCoy for EMDR?
I was trained in EMDR in 2021 and went on to become EMDR Certified, which included supervision hours, EMDR cases and advanced trainings. Since then, I have continued building depth in the model through experience, consultation, and advanced learning. I now also provide consultation for therapists who are working toward EMDR certification, and I am a Consultant in Training.
EMDR is not something I use as a quick add-on. It is a therapy approach I have invested in deeply because I have seen how powerful it can be when it is done thoughtfully, thoroughly, and with attention to the whole person.
Clients often want more than just insight. They want their reactions to actually shift. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded, with attention to your pace, your nervous system, and what helps you feel safe enough for the work.

Tried EMDR before and felt like it did not work?
You are not the only one.
Sometimes people come to me and say they have tried EMDR before and did not feel like it helped. Sometimes it may not have been the right timing, the right fit, or the right therapeutic relationship.
And sometimes it may not have been a thorough experience of EMDR.
Not every therapist who offers EMDR has the same level of depth, training, or experience in the model. Some may have had limited training and not gone much further from there. EMDR is more than just a technique. It is a full therapy approach, and the way it is paced, understood, and used really matters.
So if you have tried EMDR before and walked away thinking it just was not for you, that may not be the full story. In some cases, it is worth giving it another chance with a therapist who has continued to build real depth in the work.
What is EMDR therapy?
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is a therapy approach that helps the brain process distressing experiences so they no longer feel as intense, overwhelming, or present in everyday life.
Many people come to EMDR after realizing:
“I know why I feel this way, but I still keep reacting like I’m stuck there.”
That is often where EMDR can help. It works with the experiences, beliefs, and nervous system patterns underneath the surface so healing is not just something you understand intellectually, but something you begin to actually feel.
You do not have to tell every detail of your trauma for EMDR to work. And you do not have to jump into the hardest parts right away. My approach is paced, collaborative, and built around helping you feel supported throughout the process.
What EMDR can help with:
EMDR therapy can help with:
-
childhood trauma
-
anxiety
-
panic
-
attachment wounds
-
relationship triggers
-
recent traumatic events
-
negative core beliefs
-
shame
-
emotional overwhelm
-
patterns that keep repeating no matter how much insight you have
-
If you have ever thought, “Why am I still reacting like this?” EMDR may help address that at the root.
What the process looks like
1. Start with a free consultation
We will talk about what is bringing you in, what you are struggling with, and whether EMDR feels like a good fit.
2. Build the foundation first
I do not rush straight into the hardest parts. We start by understanding your history, your goals, and what helps you feel supported and steady enough for the work.
3. Begin EMDR at a manageable pace
As therapy continues, we work through the experiences and beliefs that still feel activated or unresolved.
4. Notice real-life shifts
The goal is not to erase your past. The goal is for it to stop running the present.
